The Band of Brothers: MP3s/Lyrics

Evangeline (lyrics)

(The Band of Brothers)
Michael Scott Smith
Note from Michael: "Evangeline" began life in 1982 during a time of personal troubles. (Ah! The balm of art!) Anyway, the song never seemed quite finished to me. (Ah! The curse of art!) About two years ago I added the 'middle eight' section, "And when my waiting time is through...". I suppose a song about patience and perseverance was destined to take over twenty years to complete!
It ain't easy, but it's worth it.

It's worth the trouble and it's worth the time.

I've been waiting days and months now.

Waiting patient, for you, Evangeline.

Winter's coming, with its cold winds blowing.

Mama, Springtime, ain't far behind.

Summer or Fall, any season at all.

I'll be waiting for you, Evangeline.

And when my waiting time is through, I'll be standing here for you.

Through all these shifts of space and time -

Girl, you're always on my mind - Evangeline.

It ain't easy, but it's worth it.

It's worth the trouble and it's worth the time.

I've been waiting days and months now.

Waiting patient, for you, Evangeline.
