The Band of Brothers: MP3s/Lyrics
Almost There (lyrics)
(The Band of Brothers)
Michael Scott Smith/Jamie Stevens
Note from Michael: I wrote "Almost There" in July of 2004 after reading some passages from the Book of Revelation. I had the music in mind as I wrote the lyrics, and brought the song (unfinished) to a band rehearsal that evening. Jamie wrote the final set of verses ("I'm not alone...") the same evening. As I hoped, the guys added some great harmonies and instrumentation. Later in the year, as Jesse Sprinkle and I worked on the mixes for the The Band of Brothers first CD at Illuminata Studios, the words "Almost There" became something of a mantra for us. During one session in December 2004 we realized that this little song was also going to be the title of the CD.
Almost there, to the Land of Glory, almost there, almost there.
There’ll be water for the thirsty, almost there, almost there.
We’re almost there! We’re almost there! We’re almost there!
We’re almost there, to the Gates of the City. Almost there, almost there.
The fulfillment of the prophecy. Almost there, almost there.
We’re almost there! We’re almost there! We’re almost there!
I can see the angel coming. Almost there, almost there.
Soon to be, bright morning sun. Almost there, almost there.
We’re almost there! We’re almost there! We’re almost there!
I’m not alone, on this journey. Almost there, almost there.
Come and go, along with me. Almost there, almost there.
We’re almost there! We’re almost there! We’re almost there!
